Using CostMeHours without an account
You can use the whole calculator without signing in. In that mode everything lives in your own browser's local storage and is never transmitted to us:
- The numbers you enter (income, tax settings, housing, transport, subscriptions, payroll deductions) and any scenarios you name.
- Your light or dark theme preference.
- A cached table of currency exchange rates, refreshed at most once a day.
Clearing your browser data deletes all of it. We have no copy, so we cannot recover it for you.
Using CostMeHours with an account
If you choose to sign in, we store two things on our behalf:
- Your account identity. Your email address, and an internal user id. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your email address from them. We never receive or store your password for those services.
- Your scenarios. The same numbers described above, saved against your user id so they follow you between devices.
Authentication and storage are provided by Supabase, acting as our processor. Data is held in a Postgres database with row level security, which means every query is scoped to the signed-in user at the database level: your rows are unreadable by other users of the service. Traffic is encrypted in transit.
We do not use your numbers for advertising, we do not sell them, and we do not share them with third parties. They exist so the product can show them back to you.
Signing in
You can sign in with Google, with GitHub, or with an email address and password. Choosing Google or GitHub tells them that you use CostMeHours; it does not give us access to anything in your Google or GitHub account beyond your email address.
Deleting your data
Deleting a scenario in the app removes it from our database immediately. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email inquiries@ahura-tech.com from the address you signed up with and we will remove it. You are also entitled to ask what we hold about you, and to ask for a copy.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and loads no analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, and no cross-site tracking of any kind. The only value this site stores in your browser is your theme preference.
The calculator app stores the items listed above in local storage, plus a session token once you sign in so that you stay signed in.
Third parties
- Google reCAPTCHA v3 runs on our contact page to keep out automated spam. It is subject to Google's privacy policy and terms.
- Supabase provides authentication and the database, as described above.
- Netlify hosts both this site and the app, and keeps standard server access logs.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used across both sites.
- open.er-api.com supplies currency exchange rates. The app asks it for a rate table; it is not told anything about you or your numbers.
What the calculator is not
CostMeHours produces estimates for guidance, using published tax rates. It is not financial, tax or legal advice, and the figures should not be relied on for filing or for any formal decision.
